Stephen was raised in Westhoughton, Bolton and joined Russell & Russell in 1977 after obtaining a 2:1 honours degree in Law at Birmingham University. He trained a qualified as a Solicitor in 1980, becoming a Partner in the firm in 1983.
Stephen specialises in property law and heads up both the Conveyancing Department and the firms associated search and hip businesses which include The Hips Centre, a new venture which was launched in 2007. He is a member the Law Society Property Section and also a member of the Pisces working party on Home Information Packs. Amongst his personal clients are many land developers with large and small projects including self builders www.selfbuildsolicitors.co.uk
In December of 2008 Stephen was delighted to accept an invitation to join the Board of the Bolton Lads & Girls Club charity in the capacities of both Director and also company Secretary. Russell & Russell have supported this most worthwhile local charity for a number of years most recently as Patrons.
Outside work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and is interested in most sports. He has supported Bolton Wanderers since childhood and has season tickets with his sons. Although he is not a gambler by nature he does enjoy a day at the races particularly family days at Cartmel.
